Marks & Spencer: Intelligent Tagging
- Corporate Video
Marks & Spencer were in the process of introducing Intelligent Tagging technology onto high priced merchandise. There was a requirement for a short video demonstrating the process of electronically counting the merchandise into the distribution centre before being transferred to stores.
After being awarded the contract, we undertook an understanding of how the process improved stock control and security, by use of a low power microchip radio transmitter fixed inside a cardboard tag attached to the garment.
We filmed the merchandise being unloaded onto a mechanical track, which took the items out of the vehicle and through a device which picks up the details of the item from the electronic tag, displaying and recording the count on a computer.
The video was overlaid with an upbeat soundtrack along with basic titles. The company used the video as a main part of the presentation to the Operating Board, successfully resulting in the implementation of the project, leading to highly improved stock control and a noticeable reduction in theft.
